Hi, I'm Tilly Voss — illustrator-turned-maker and the person behind every pattern, tutorial, and slightly chaotic works-in-progress photo on Felt Fox. This page exists because I want you to know exactly how the content here gets made, tested, and checked before it ever reaches your screen. If you're stitching a coaster fox at your kitchen table on my word alone, you deserve to know that word is a good one.

Our Mission

Felt Fox exists to make needle felting, crochet, and amigurumi feel approachable — not intimidating. I write for the person who's never held a felting needle, the parent hunting for a kids' craft that won't end in tears, and the crocheter who wants their next amigurumi to actually have a face worth photographing. Every piece of content is built to be followed step by step, by a real hand, on a real project. Nothing here is written just to fill a page.

How Content Is Created and Reviewed

Every pattern posted on this site starts the way my children's book work used to: sketch first, stitch second. I draw the character, work out the proportions, then make the piece myself — often more than once, because first attempts are almost always a little lumpy (and that's genuinely fine). Tricky steps get hand-illustrated so you're never guessing what a decrease stitch or a felting technique should look like.

Before a pattern or tutorial goes live, it goes through a few checks:

• I make the project myself, start to finish, using the exact instructions I'm about to publish.
• Where possible, patterns are tested by other makers in our community before or after launch, and I revise instructions based on where people get stuck.
• Seasonal and trend-driven posts are checked against current craft supplies and techniques so recommendations stay accurate, not outdated.

How We Choose Topics

Every topic ties back to our core niche: felt crafts, amigurumi, crochet, kids' crafts and toys, handmade gifts, and seasonal projects. I pick topics based on three things — what makers are actually searching for, what I'm currently obsessed with making in my own studio, and what fills a real gap (like a coaster pattern with eight different animal faces, or an organization guide for the closet where you actually store your yarn stash). I also keep an eye on craft trends via Pinterest, where I share process shots and inspiration boards at pinterest.com/Feltfoxbe, and reader questions often become full tutorials.

Sourcing and Accuracy

Craft advice should be tested, not guessed at. Technique claims, material safety notes (like which stuffing is appropriate for kids' toys, or which felting needles suit beginners), and sizing information are based on hands-on testing in my own studio, established crafting practices, and — where relevant — manufacturer guidance for tools and materials. If a technique is experimental or a personal preference rather than a proven method, I say so in the post rather than presenting it as universal fact.

Product Recommendations

When I recommend a specific wool roving, hook size, stuffing, or tool, it's because I've used it, tested it against alternatives, or trust it based on consistent results across multiple projects. I don't recommend products I wouldn't hand to a friend who's just starting out. Corrections Process

Patterns are handmade instructions written by a human, and occasionally a stitch count or a step gets published wrong. If you spot an error — a typo in a pattern, a broken link, an outdated product mention — please tell me. Email [email protected] with the post title and what you noticed, and I'll review and correct it as quickly as possible. Significant corrections are noted directly on the post so returning readers know what changed.

Community Moderation

Comments, shared project photos, and pattern feedback are a real part of how Felt Fox improves — testers regularly point out where a step needs clarifying. To keep that space useful and kind, all comments and submissions are moderated according to our Community Guidelines. Respectful disagreement and honest feedback are always welcome; spam, rudeness, and self-promotion are not.
